5K Training

Just an update to say I am registered for a 5K at the end of next month. I should be running the majority of it and I am looking forward (well as forward as you can look to being sweaty, in pain and basically tortured). Running is not my favorite thing to do, but it burns awesome calories so I try to force myself to do it. Do any of you have any tips to make it easier, at at least less like torture? Or are you just a running person or not?

  1. Hi Sue, stumbled across your blog and first off, congrats on the weight loss! I'm NOT a runner but I do it for fitness, I've been chasing after that runner's high or love for running for a while now (well 3 years haha) and the furthest I got is about 14K of straight running? Needless to say, I'm back to 3K walk/run every (other) week, but you know what? I think I'm happier this way, I also cross-train in other sports, and still manage to lose more weight than I had with just running. Good luck on the 5K! I suggest investing in an iPod or iPhone, and getting the Jeff Galloway 5K app. You can also use the Nike+ sensor for tracking to give you that sense of achievement after runs. :) Good luck and I will be rooting for you!
